The Modi government is making Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the stairs at his residence in a private room for the duration of his tenure.
The prime minister’s residence in Aurangabad, where he has been staying since last year, has been converted into a government office building and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) office is being converted into the residence of the prime minister.
The government office is in the basement of the building, while the PMO office is located on the first floor.
The Prime Minister was supposed to be staying in his residence, but he was forced to move it earlier this year, as the government moved the prime ministerial residence in his absence.
Sources said the PM had been moved from the PM Oasis in Auraganga, in the western suburbs of New Delhi, and had been in a “private room” with his daughter, Meenakshi, and the family members in the PM’s residence for the last three days.
The PMO has also been transformed into a residence, where the Prime Ministers office is also located.
The government office, which was initially supposed to house the Prime Minster’s Office, has also become the PMs office and the government office has been moved to the basement, sources said.
The cabinet meeting, which is also expected to be the second time the Prime minister will be under the staircase, is expected to take place between 5 pm and 6 pm on Thursday.
