An image of a grey painted staircase is being removed from a building on the west side of the United States Capitol building.
The Washington, D.C., building is being dismantled for the National Capital Commission’s plan to rebuild the Washington Monument.
It will be a landmark in the city’s history, but it will take some time for the work to complete.
The work to remove the grey staircase will take two months.
It is not yet clear when the stairs will be replaced.
